Would you like to meet other young artists from the Leeds area and make new work with them and professionals? Do you want to develop your creative skills and earn Arts Awards? Do you want to explore a career in the creative arts or earn UCAS points?
1st of May to the 5th of June 2019
For ages 12-19 years from the Armley and Chapeltown areas to create film/theatre/creative writing/ spoken word with Interplay Theatre and Story Makers artists. Free by application for young people who would like to have access to more arts experiences. Transport will be provided. The 6 sessions will take place between Interplay Theatre, The Mandela Centre and Leeds Beckett University.
We aim to:
Empower - Develop a collective community youth voice by bringing together underrepresented young people from across the city and to give voice to their collective stories.
Aspire - Develop aspiration of further arts related pathways at University by working with arts professionals from Story Makers Hub. To create learning pathways through the University. To accredit the work.
Nurture - Develop young people’s confidence, skills and capabilities through development, dissemination and critical reflection of the arts processes.
Artistic work will be performed at our Story Makers Festival to a professional
audience and in our Story Makers Dialogues (artists working paper series). You will gain a reference, art awards and the possibility of UCAS accreditation for this programme.
